COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southern Colorado is asking residents to share their love this Valentine's Day and give to the non-profit.

This as it continues to support the families of critically ill children.

The El Paso County Board of Commissioners proclaimed February 14 "Give a Little Love Day" in honor of the 26th anniversary of Ronald McDonald House Charities.

In the past 26 years 8,000 families have called the Ronald McDonald House their home, living there as long as necessary while their children receive medical care at area hospitals.

One of those families FOX21 has been following for several years.

That is the family of Elizabeth Bailey, who was diagnosed with a brain tumor.

Her story of hope, strength and courage is why the non-profit continues to give day after day, year after year.

"One hundred percent of the funds that support Ronald McDonald House and the families that stay there come from our own community," Beth Alessio, Executive Director of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southern Colorado, said.
