Jeff Womack
Weekend Meteorologist

School: Montana State University - Billings
Hometown: Bozeman, Mont.

Jeff's first TV appearance was at age 3 on a Christmas special in Spokane, Wash. on KXLY where his parents worked. “I can still remember all the cables and the set that was supposed to be our house.”

He moved to Marietta, Ga. when his parents went to work for CNN in Atlanta. Young Jeff got to hang out at the huge CNN center. During those times he was more interested in the food court than editing tape or gathering stories. In the fifth grade, Jeff got his first chance to run an audio board when a technician let him "push up" the pot when he heard the Director say "fade up mic cue." Then in seventh grade he took a certain interest in the big blue wall they used to do weather.

In the summers, Jeff came back to Bozeman, were he was born because he missed the mountains and his uncle's farm. He loved haying and to make hay, the sun has to shine. Although he did not know it yet, that is where he was developing his fascination with changing weather.

In the eighth grade he constructed his first TV set out of cardboard for "Late Night with Jeff Womack" which was canceled after its second season.

Womack went to high school in Dillon, Mont. He played football for the Dillon Beavers, which turned out to be an even shorter stay than his late night comedy show. Since he was not the next Troy Aikman he decided to do something he had always dreamed about: "being on the radio." When he was a junior in high school, he had a job doing mornings on KDBM before he went to school.

After nine years of radio, Jeff would be bitten by the TV bug once again. This turned into a job doing weekend weather for KHQ in Spokane, Wash. and KTVQ in Billings, Mont. Jeff is quick to credit his mentors Brian Albrecht, Bob McGuire, Dave Law, Marc Moraniec and George Maupin for giving him a jump start in the business.

Some of the biggest weather events he remembers are the Father's Day 2010 tornado that leveled MetraPark area and the 2008 Spokane record-setting foot of snow in 24 hours.

Womack has hosted many events over the years including St. Jude's Country Cares, Resistol Relief Fund, and Cor Enterprises, just to name a few. He looks forward to your invitations to host or help with your event. Just a little secret... "Jeff can't say no."

Jeff says “he is thrilled to be in Colorado Springs, this is an area I have always wanted to live... Once you live in the Rockies it's hard to be anywhere else.”

Womack is a graduate of MSU-Billings and earned his certificate in meteorology from Mississippi State University.

Jeff was honored by the Montana Broadcasters as the 2011 weathercaster of the year.
